There’s a rule book of etiquette for just about anything – did you know that there’s also etiquette for riding in a limousine? It’s not necessarily a written rule book, but there are some implied rules of etiquette when you hire a limousine service that can make the experience more enjoyable for you as well as the company that you choose to work with. In the end, everyone wins. At An Extraordinar Limousine, we want you to get the most you can out of your limo service, so we’ve compiled a small list of good limousine etiquette to help your experience go smoothly.
- Tipping etiquette – Every company that you contract with is a little bit different. Make sure that you ask at the beginning whether the gratuity is included in the cost of the rental or if you should provide your driver with a tip at the end of your rental period for good service. Even if the gratuity is added, if you think that your experience goes above and beyond, your driver will always appreciate your gratitude.
- Behavioral etiquette – Some people operate under the assumption that since the limo isn’t their car, they aren’t accountable for what happens to it. Remember that these vehicles are how some people make their livelihood. Smoking, using drugs, or not being careful about potentially staining the upholstery can cost both you and the company in the long run. You should aim to have a great time, but do so within the parameters of the law and while using sound judgment.
- Be accessible – Things come up and you want your limo driver to be able to reach you on a moment’s notice and vice versa. If there’s a change of plans or if your driver gets lost, they need to be able to contact you. Keep your phone on you (preferably on ring) and pay attention to incoming calls, just in case. Nobody ever anticipates problems arising, but when they do, you want to be able to solve them quickly.
- Allow your driver to open the door – When you first meet your driver, you’ll learn about his or her expectations and how the service will run. For a smooth evening, honor your driver’s wishes. They’re there to make you comfortable and help you to enjoy your evening. Generally speaking, the driver will open the door and offer you a hand out.
